The Stars Come Out For Pistons’ Detroit Homecoming

It was a star-studded night in Detroit when the Pistons returned downtown for the first time in 39 years. After spending previous seasons in the suburbs, Pontiac Silverdome and The Palace of Auburn Hills, the Pistons moved into Little Caesars Arena. An arena they share with the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit is the only city in America where all four professional sports teams reside downtown.

The Pistons held pregame activities in the Chevrolet Plaza, including a BLUE Carpet event of players entering Little Caesars Arena.

Early buzz in the arena started with the unexpected appearance of former Pistons All-Star, Grant Hill.

NBA personalities in attendance included; NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, Pistons legends, Dave Bing and Bob Lanier.

As if that wasn’t enough, musicians, Skylar Grey performed at halftime and two Detroit-born, rap legends shocked the crowd with their presence.

Proving to be a key motivational factor, Eminem welcoming the Pistons back to Detroit resulted in a 102-90 win over the Charlotte Hornets. Tobias Harris led the way with 27 points, 17 in the first quarter.

The Pistons look to return to the playoffs after an atrocious 2016-17 season. In a presumably ‘weak’ Eastern Conference, it would be extremely disappointing if Van Gundy’s crew didn’t make a 2nd playoff appearance under his tenure.
