Wings Lose 5th Straight in Buffalo, Athanasiou Joins Team

As the story goes, Detroit Red Wings extend their losing streak to 5 games on the season. Jimmy Howard was excellent behind the net with 31 of 32 save opportunities, but Sabres goaltender, Robin Lehner was just a little bit better, holding the Wings scoreless.

Scoring has been an issue with Detroit, as of late. Luke Glendening led the way with 5 shots on goal. Dylan Larkin has been held without a goal for the ninth-straight game. He has one goal on the season.

A familiar face was on the ice today, as Andreas Athanasiou rejoined the Wings for their off-day practice in Tampa. This is the first time on the ice for Athanasiou after agreeing to a  1-year deal worth $1.378 million to stay with Detroit. He is expected to make his season debut as early as Thursday vs. Tampa Bay Lightning. The puck drops at 7:30 PM.
