Pistons defeat the Pacers 114-97

The Pistons continued their homestand tonight against the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers, led by Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner, were coming off a loss last night in New Orleans.

The Pacers scored the first 5 points before the Pistons responded with a 13-4 run of their own. However, the tides turned just as quickly as Andre Drummond picked up his second foul midway through the 1st quarter. Stan Van Gundy took him out immediately and Indiana finished the quarter on a 21-9 run.

Once again, the Pistons bench provided a boost of energy. Boban Marjanovic and Langston Gallaway each scored 9 points in the second quarter as the Detroit outscored Indiana 37-22. Bojan Bogdanovic’s layup made it 59-52 at the half.

Indiana came out strong in the 3rd quarter and tied the game at 65 before the Pistons put them away with a 13-0 run. The Pacers couldn’t get closer than 7 and the Pistons led by as many as the 17 point final margin, 114-97.

The Pistons were led by Andre Drummond’s 14 point, 21 rebound, 4 assist performance. Tobias Harris added 23 points and 8 rebounds. Reggie Jackson had 18 points and 6 assists. Ish Smith had 10 points and 5 assists off the bench. Six Pistons finished in double figures. The Pacers were led by Victor Oladipo’s 21 points and 3 rebounds. Al Jefferson had 19 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.

Notes: The Pistons improved to 8-3 on the season and 5-1 at home. The Pistons continue the homestand Friday against the Atlanta Hawks. Andre Drummond went 0-7 from the foul line. Stanley Johnson was out with a hip injury. Reggie Bullock started at small forward in his place.
