Thursday night at Detroit’s Eastern Market, Shed 5, Sam Martin and teammates hosted the 2nd annual Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway. With the help of presenting sponsor Scott Hankins of Merrill Lynch and volunteers of the Sam Martin Foundation, the Detroit Lions punter along with teammates Matt Prater and Don Muhlbach presented 100 Metro-Detroit families with pre-bagged Thanksgiving dinners.
Drafted to the Lions in 2013, Sam Martin has been role model on the field and in the community. The Sam Martin Foundation’s mission is, “to enhance the lives of children with physical and mental conditions in addition to improving animal welfare”. From resurrecting the Detroit Lions annual charity softball game to aiding in hurricane relief, #Detroit2Houston, a movement that sent 44,000 lbs of Earthborn Holistic Dog food to Houston, Martin has become a fixture in the community of Detroit.
Sam Martin returned to the field Week 8 vs. Pittsburgh, after an ankle injury sidelined him for the better part of the 2017 season.
