The Pistons came home tonight to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. Coming off an exciting win last night in Minnesota, the energy was not there in the second night of the back to back.
The Cavaliers got off to an early start outscoring the Pistons 36-23 in the first quarter and 37-23 in the second quarter. Cleveland had a balanced scoring load, with 6 players scoring in double figures. No Cavaliers player played more than 28 minutes.
Hot shooting from the 3 point line (16-33) and good free throw shooting (16-17) were enough as the Cavs built a 39 point lead. The Pistons were able to reduce the deficit, but fell 116-88 and lost just their second game at Little Caesars Arena.
The Pistons were led by Tobias Harris’ 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Reggie Jackson had 10 points and 6 assists. Eric Moreland had 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench. The were led by Jimmy Butler’s 26 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Andrew Wiggins had 24 points, 3 blocks and 2 steals.
Notes: The Pistons fell to 11-6 on the season and 7-2 at home. The Pistons go on the road and play Oklahoma City Friday night. This is the first time this season that Detroit lost on the second night of a back to back. Andre Drummond was held to under 10 rebounds for the first time this season. Jon Leuer remains out with an ankle sprain.
