The Red Wings hosted the expansion franchise, Vegas Golden Knights for the first time at Little Caesars Arena before heading out west, this week in #MyRedWings Weekly.

It was a bittersweet welcome for former fan-favorite, Tomas Tatar in his new ‘golden’ threads on Thursday at LCA, as the Wings were blanked, 4-0. Credit Alex Tuch and Cody Eakin at 2 goals, each for Vegas in the win. Marc-Andre Fleury recorded 28 saves in the shutout.

The Golden Knights are on pace to become only the 2nd NHL expansion team to make the playoffs in their first season. The other, St. Louis Blues in 1967-68, who made it all the made to the Stanley Cup Finals.
After the one-game home stand, the Wings went back out on the road, kicking things off in Columbus at Nationwide Arena versus the Blue Jackets. Darren Helm got the offense going for Detroit when he countered Columbus’ Matt Calvert, tying things up in the first period, 1-1. The 2nd period belonged to Blue Jacket’s Seth Jones, who scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season. Double-A, Andreas Athanasiou would score in the 3rd, but it wouldn’t be enough, as Detroit fell, 3-2 on Friday.

After a couple days off, the Wings headed to the ‘Shark Tank’ to face the San Jose Sharks on Monday. Fans were treated to an offensive outburst from the Sharks and Wings, but the home team would be the victors in the end as the Sharks toppled Detroit, 5-3, sending the Red Wings to their 7th consecutive loss.

5 different Sharks would score for San Jose; Joonas Donskoi, Eric Fehr, Kevin Lebanc, Timo Meier and Chris Tierney, respectively. Detroit countered with Trevor Daley (9), Gustav Nyquist (17) and the Captain, Henrik Zetterberg (10) passed Hall of Famer, Ted Lindsay for most goals in franchise history.

The Wings will get 2 days off before continuing their road trip against the Kings, Ducks, back-to-back and concluding against the Avalanche on Sunday.
