About

My Detroit Sports is a sports news website, owned and operated by Justin Brown and Lance Martinez. We are dedicated to bringing the latest entertaining and inspirational sports stories to fans in the state of Michigan!

Lance and Justin met as Detroit Pistons season ticket holders. It was their passion for ’90s era of basketball’, collectibles and dedication to current Detroit sports teams that spawned the idea of documenting their experiences through My Detroit Sports.

Justin was an early internet pioneer with Net Ventures, Inc. and is currently a partner at Brown Brothers Law, LLP. Justin has been going to Detroit Tigers and Pistons games since 1991. He has been a Pistons season ticket holder for 8 years. Justin is an avid chess player; USCF slow expert/USCF blitz master. He finished in 3rd place at the 2017 Michigan Speed Championships. In addition to 90s basketball, he is a huge ABA historian. Also, he is the only sports fan in Ann Arbor that does not follow U of M Football and has never gone to a Red Wings game. His current favorite Detroit athletes are Ian Kinsler and Reggie Jackson.

Lance was named after Detroit Tigers legend, Lance Parrish. He grew up in Saginaw, Michigan and spent 10 years in Southern California. Lance got his start in freelance videography with Kiefer Sutherland-owned record label, Ironworks and their artists; Rocco DeLuca, Lifehouse, Billy Boy on Poison and Daniel Lanois (Producer, U2 – The Joshua Tree/Actung Baby). He is a current correspondent for iFollo Sports. Lance has been attending Detroit sports events for 25+ years, primarily Tigers and Pistons. He is a nachos connoisseur and has watched the Tigers play in 16 of the 30 MLB ballparks.
