Pistons hand the Clippers their first loss of the season, 95-87.

The Pistons began their west coast road trip against the undefeated Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. With owner Tom Gores watching in the stands, the Pistons played an inspired first quarter and took a 3 point lead against their hosts. However, the three fouls on Tobias Harris limited the forward to just 9 minutes in the first half. The Clippers took advantage and outscored the Pistons 31-18 in the 2nd quarter.

But the Pistons were able to find their defensive rhythm in the second half. The Clippers were held to 33.3% shooting (28-84) and were hounded into 18 turnovers. Offensive stars Blake Griffin and Danilo Gallinari shot 5-18 and 4-16 respectively. It was a total team effort on both ends of the floor, as 8 Pistons managed 8 or more points. It was a slow and steady grind as a 13 point deficit finally turned into a Pistons lead on a Stanley Johnson 3 pointer with 8:39 left in the game. Keeping their foot on the gas, the Pistons were able to pull away to win 95-87.

Andre Drummond had his fourth straight double double with 15 points and 17 rebounds, plus 3 blocks. Reggie Jackson had 15 points and 7 assists. Langston Galloway chipped in 13 points off the bench. The Clippers were led by Austin Rivers who had 20 points, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds. Blake Griffin had 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. DeAndre Jordan had 7 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Notes: The Pistons improve to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 on the road. The Pistons head up to Oakland to play the defending champion Warriors tomorrow night at 8:30. Reggie Bullock served his suspension and was active for the first time this season. He scored 1 point and grabbed 1 rebound in 7 minutes off the bench.
